The City
of Villa Rica, Georgia, was established in 1826 as a gold mining town. In fact, the name Villa Rica is translated
to mean "rich city."
The City of Villa
Rica is located approximately 30 miles from Atlanta, in close proximately of Six Flags over Georgia and Talladega Speedway,
along Interstate 20 (I-20).
The historic downtown
(listed on the National Register of Historic Places) is often referred to as "quaint" by the numerous tourist that come
to shop the antiques stores or dine in one of the six restaurants, while visiting Art Galleries or coffee shops.
The City of Villa
Rica is governed by a Mayor (elected at large) and five council members (elected by ward) who establish city policies.
The City Manager, who directs operations through Department Heads, implements daily directives.
